Astral Projection Or Lucid Dream Experiment

So I have been realizing that I have been having some personality problems as of late. When I realized this, I spoke to my mom about it, and she did help a lot, but for some reason I think there of some more subconscious problems that need my attention, and it is a little difficult to find out exactly what they are if I can't consciously think about them.

I get stressed easily, so I started playing a game called Psychonauts to make me feel a little more relaxed. In this game, a character named Raz has to go into people's minds and fight things like nightmares and the peoples' own personal demons in order to help them or cure their insanity. So, after a while of playing around I got this idea; what if you were to astral project or to use lucid dreaming to astral project yourself into your own mind in order to try to fix all the things that seem to be weighing you down that you can't find?

Although I understand that you shouldn't compare the standards of a video game to real life, I think that you can get some good (if not completely crazy) ideas that could work and that you wouldn't have ever come up with if you hadn't just spent the last hour and a half reading your favorite book or playing your favorite video game. That being said, what do you think? If anyone would like to try it, I would greatly appreciate if you would post your results in the comments. (The only problem I can think of at this point is that I've had quite a bit of trouble astral projecting; I still have yet to actually successfully get out of my body, unfortunately...) Thank you all once again for reading my post! I will do my best to work on my astral projection!

I quote (about random astral projection): "The previous experiment has little value, and leads to few results of importance. But it is susceptible of a development which merges into a form of Dharana --- concentration --- and as such may lead to the very highest ends. The principal use of the practice in the last chapter is to familiarise the student with every kind of obstacle and every kind of delusion, so that he may be perfect master of every idea that may arise in his brain, to dismiss it, to transmute it, to cause it instantly to obey his will."

I wanted to add that I also liked Robert Bruce's book. It has a bunch of clear exercises and some descriptions of the astral from the practical standpoint of a projector. I'm hoping that his book will be helpful in getting me out of my body. Although it is hard to go from reading someone who is concise, highly intelligent, and scientific to someone who writes to the lowest common denominator and is a little bit fluffy-bunny. (And I really need to get over trying to compare one teacher to another. The whole "my guru is the best of the best and not yours" thing is ridiculous.) But it really is like going from classic literature to pulp fiction.

As fizzle said, astral projection's nice, but if your goal is spiritual enlightenment, it is necessary to reject the sweet gardens of pleasures (for example where you seem to be in heaven) and keep on going higher. As long as there is still a "you" left, you're not there yet.

Actually, when you are in a lucid dream you can simply ask your subconscious any questions you have. The subconscious mind is your higher self, it is the universe, it is you. Of course, you can also just analyse your dreams, as they show all your so called 'problems' to you anyway.
In the astral realms you can go to the akashic records and ask anything. It is the 'library' of all that was, is, and is to be, although the future is often sketchy as it changes all the time.

Don't just rely on these things to help you solve your problems though, I made that mistake once. While these things are fascinating and wonderful, and they can help you gain a closer insight, it will not bring you enlightenment. You cannot 'fight' your problems. It is not going to help you. Just as you cannot fear a negative spirit because it feeds on your negative energy, you cannot keep fighting negatively yourself. Those 'problems' are a part of you too. They need to be accepted and loved, the ego is an illusion but all it wants is attention. Feel those bad feelings, and be aware of those thoughts. Not only will it profoundly enlighten you, but you will find yourself much more able to do things like astral projection and lucid dreaming, because you become more conscious.

I would also suggest meditation and stilling the thoughts. Like I said, being conscious of your thoughts brings them into the light, and eventually your ego will get bored and just shut up. This brings you stillness, and from that stillness and silence comes true knowledge. True wisdom, you will be able to hear the answers you seek. But really, when you are silent and in the now, there are no problems, everything just is as it is.

But by all means, do continue with astral projection and lucid dreaming. They are amazing experiences, truly wonderful. But remember one thing- you cannot truly know something through reading it, you must experience it. So read what I'm saying, but you won't understand it until you are it.

Oh and if you want to learn from the best of the best- try robert bruce. I mean the guy is a legend. His book on astral projection is about 800 pages long, but it includes everything you ever need to know. Just in case you consider it- its called astral dynamics: a new approach to out-of-body experiences.

Good Luck. My email is on my page if you would like to chat about this more-or you have any more questions.:-)
Love and Light,

❤ 😆 😁

Thank you Anaelyssa. I should definitely protect myself before I just randomly run off into my own subconscious (and I think I will read Liber O vel Manus et Sagittae)!:)

I have little experience projecting, but I've read a lot of stuff about it.

From what I understand, it is possible to project into almost anything. Want to find out what some obscure symbol means? Just imagine a door with that symbol on it and walk through the door. So if you have a sure intention to project into your subconscious and deal with whatever's bothering you, I'm sure you'll be able to do it. There's a hypothesis that *all* projection is simply projection into one's subconscious (though the line between self and world is thin anyways).

Before you do that, I'd recommend learning some protection and purification techniques since you're going in order to do serious work and not just "astral tourism".

Ultimately, bad/evil energy is still energy (and bad/evil are just arbitrary labels). It is still part of you and of the world. Rejecting it will only make it into a repressed complex that will pop up later (like getting rid of the leaves of a weed, but not getting out the root). Thus, energy must be accepted and channeled appropriately.

Now I am super biased in recommending this, but try reading Liber O vel Manus et Sagittae, part V. (Just Google it, it's available online). The other parts are valuable too, especially astral protection-wise, but part V is the most neutral (since you already like astral projection).
