Not sure if this is the place I should be posting but I would love some feedback as my experiences have disturbed me quite a lot.
They started occuring after I had my first child 13 years ago, they happen about once every 3 months.
Normally it happens when I first settle into bed. I am still awake at this point and I start hearing what I can only describe as swooshing sounds. I have tried to get back up and walk around for a bit just to try and stop them, I know what is about to happen. I don't like them but the noises come back as soon as I return to bed. I always tell my partner that I feel I'm going to have one of my episodes. It is almost as if I have to go through the experience before I can settle. I have tried everything to stop it but once these noises have started that's it I know no matter what I do I just have to get it over with.
I then start hearing like beeping noise's, and start to feel a strong force trying to drag me from my feet. I can't see anything but I just sense it's something dark. I try to grab hold of my partner screaming for his help to shake me out of this state, I can see him laying there but its like I'm going straight through him. I feel really frightened at this point and somehow manage to shake myself from it. That's it I'm awake again.
I ask my partner if he notices anything, he says he doesn't I'm just laying there asleep.
It has also happened once before during the day, I sat down, wasn't intending on sleeping but I somehow felt I moved to another chair. My children were playing around me. Again I was trying to get them to shake me back but to them I was asleep on the chair I first sat in.
I would say these episodes last no more than 30 secs but it's very hard to say.
My 14 year old got up one night saying "mum I think I've had one of your episodes" She described it exactly how I feel it. This was about a year ago and touch wood she hasn't had one since.
My worst experience happened last night. I was actually asleep when this one happened because I can remember the dream I was having immediately before it, which is very unusual. This episode went on for much longer. My dream suddenly stopped and the noises came and I was immediately fighting with these dark forces. There seemed to be more than one dark force this time, I can't explain how I know this. I was trying to fight them, to stop these force's pulling me. I could feel a sharp pain in the left side of my abdomen like I was being stabbed. I was sleeping with my daughter at this time and trying desperately to wake her to shake me out of it. Again I eventually managed to shake myself out of it but it seemed to go on for ages.
I find them so disturbing. My partner just laughs and says it's probably just a state of sleep. No one takes it seriously except my elder daughter. They do seem very real to me and it's frightening.
I would be grateful for any feedback or ways to manage these episodes.
Nuttermel, I would like to suggest to try burning sage before you go to bed. You can buy smudgeing supplies online, it's not too expensive. It helps cleanse an area of unwanted energy. I burn my sage sometimes for when I feel anxious, it soothes me and calms me down. Sweet grass works for that, too.
