Could I Be Medium Or Do These 'signs' Apply To Everyone?

I pre-apologize for how long this is going to be. I honestly just don't know what to do. I'm not sure if I am actually seeing these things, and I thought I was going crazy for the longest time, until I told one of my close friends what was happening to me. He said he would do some research, and the next day he asked me if I had ever considered the possibility of being a medium. I had never really thought about it, so I did some research and I was astounded at the similarities I saw in almost every thread about it. I started researching other things that link to this as well, such as psychics and empaths. I have all the signs for all of them, but I feel like everyone thinks that when they do research. So do you guys think I could be any/all of these? Or am I just crazy? I have always seen things other people don't, and once I realized not everyone saw and felt the same thing I did I started to grow weary and not tell anyone.

Well, here are the 'signs' that I have that the internet says shows mediumship/empath/psychic abilities.

(I copied this list from different websites and have only included those of which I have, so I'm sorry things are a little jumbled up!)

((This is a ridiculously long list so its okay if you don't read all of it. This is hours worth of research (:) )

I wake between 3am and 4am, which may or may not be accompanied by a feeling of having not been alone.

I have vivid dreams involving loved ones who have passed to the other side, and feel upon waking, I feel the person or people in your dreams were actually with me.

When I walk into different buildings or environments, there is sometimes an instant feeling of not being alone, or feeling as if I am being watched.

When I close your eyes at night to welcome sleep, I see many faces of people I do not know, appearing one at a time at different paces. This may sometimes be so fast you are only catching glimpses of a face before another appears in its place. (when I was little)

I have seen people who are out of place (in your home, or anywhere) and dressed in clothing not related to modern dress. I have feelings that show up in association with seeing

I hear voices that others don't hear, or voices that seem to only be speaking to me.

When I get quiet, or begin to be in a meditative state of mind, I often hear a high pitched ringing sound in my ears that may come and go.

I'm a writer, I can sometimes sit down to write, and naturally flow so easily, and later when I read what you have written, there are thoughts such as, "Did I write that?", or not fully remembering the thought process that produced the writing.

I dream about people you do not know.

I have heard voices of loved ones who have passed, even their laugh, giving me the feeling that if I turn around, I will see them.

I often smell scents in your environment that no one else seems to smell, such as a perfume, cigar, cigarette, or pipe smoke when no one is smoking, or any range of various other smells.

I was often described as "being in your own little world" as a child. (I am even still, at 16)

Paranormal occurrences happen around me no matter where you go.

Others in your family have told me they have witnessed me talking with someone openly while you were sound asleep

Seeing spirits in dreams, in the bath, at the end of the bed and in projections

Knowing a spirit is present

Knowing an answer

Seeing golden,silver, or white orbs

Seeing spirit around you at home when not tuned in

Seeing spirit wherever you

Being able to turn sight on or off

Hearing names and clear messages sometimes

Seeing demon

Low self esteem

High in areas of interest (i.e. Spiritual aspects)

Visitations from 'people' at night / terrifying experiences

Inquisitive

Experimental nature

Fear of the dark

Prefers their own company

Hypersensitive to criticism

Little for no close friends (can expand into adulthood if not dealt with)

Childhood - often called a day dreamer since they are caught up in two worlds

Acute sensitivity to other peoples emotions resulting in feelings of anxiety, depression and anger.

Paranoia

Inferiority complex (low self esteem)

Feeling of detactment from the world (feeling unique / defective)

Able to feel a presence when nothing can be seen or heard or physically felt

Feeling of being followed but nothing there when confronted

Tearfulness and depressive episodes

Ability to 'heal' other though conventional hands on or visualisation.

A strong sense of purpose and feeling of being special.

Often having an eccentric nature.

Seeks answers from spiritual sources

Easily distracted / poor school record (living in two worlds)

Pre-cognition i.e. Knowing what someone will say next.

A thirst for knowledge.

A peculiar lightness and buzzing is sometimes experienced in the head, together with sense of numbness in the hands and arms, and sometimes in the feet and legs. The respiration seems to become slower, and so does the heart. Tiny lights and spots and light, or dark spots, appear in the air at a distance of one or two feet in front of the subject. A peculiar pressure is sometimes experienced on the top of the head on the base of the brain, or in the solar plexus

· Feeling the world's suffering on a large scale and wishing you could do something to help. Ironically, this makes you less equipped to help, because you feel overwhelmed.

· Finding it difficult to watch the news or distressing images because you feel the pain of the person/people you're watching - as if you're them

· Finding it difficult to fully be present to yourself and your own feelings when conversing with other people.

· Shyness - empathy can make you somewhat self-conscious as you're very aware of the effect your words have on another person and what they're thinking and feeling in response.

· A tendency to say yes to the requests and demands of other people - almost as a reflex; without thinking about whether you actually want to. It's only afterwards that you realize you forgot yourself and your own needs.

· A general tendency to put your needs last, or serve others at your own expense.

· A liking for distance in relationships, and for solitude.

· Feeling an affinity with the animal kingdom. When you're an animal empath, you can get a feel for how other species experience life and you are able to relate to animals on a deep level.

· Feeling responsible for how other people feel - and going out of your way to help them to feel better (even when it doesn't serve you.)

· Finding yourself often in a counselling role, where people dump their emotions on you, and being very drained by it.

· An emotional over-identification with characters in novels, films and plays. It doesn't matter that they're not real - you can still feel how they felt.

· A tendency to forget to have fun and lighten up

Places have "feelings" to you, for example, you may walk into a place you have never been, and feel very uncomfortable when there is no obvious reason, or feel a wave of sadness or other intense emotion as you enter.

You are a musician, poet, writer, singer, or of any other creative talent. Others tell you your work makes them "feel".

You seem to take on the physical "pain" of others.

You often wake around 3am.

You tend to know instantly when someone is lying to you.

Gatherings with large crowds make you feel anxious.

You tend to follow your feelings more than your intellect in decision making.

You sense ghosts or spirits and may often feel someone is there, when no one is visibly present.

You feel the energy of plants, trees, and other aspects of nature.

1. De Ja Vu.

2. Heightened Levels of Intuition. Like knowing whose calling on the phone before you even answer it, or always finding out what someone will probably wear before you actually see them personally.

3. Mind to Mind Connection. Reading the thoughts of others and communicating to them by only making use of your mind.

4. Visions. Do you get visions from time to time? Do these visions eventually turn real? Receiving visions (through dreams)

5. You Just Simply Know With No Explanation. Are there moments that you just simply have a gut feeling about something without having logical explanation at all and it eventually takes place?

V3; Thank you for your input, and I just emailed you. (:

Psionics; Yeah, he is a really great person and one of the few people I actually trust, I look up to him like the big brother I wish I had haha. It definitely does make a difference to have someone you can confide in. Thank you (:

well it sounds like you already have a friend to confide in and talk about these things. That's how I started with my friend now we have an unbreakable bond she became my little sister. It really helps that you have someone to tell these things to.

Seriously I don't know what's going on with this auto correct.

Replace the first two "c-l-o-w-n's" with the word "m-e-d-i-u-m"

And the last one with "s-p-i-r-i-t-s"

I don't know about Medium. Mediums have the ability to act as a vessel for spirits. Seeing/hearing/sensing things that others can't see/hear/sense is Clairvoyance.

Anaelyssa: Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out (: It really means a lot to me. I have just always thought everybody saw these things, and especially heard them (I hear things constantly but can sometimes go up to a few weeks without seeing anything) And its interesting to know that not everybody does. Thank you for your time spent on this (:

LittleSoki: I wish I had one that lived somewhere around me. I feel like that's the only definite way I would be able to know if I had a gift, if I was told by a psychic. Thanks for the info! (:

Psionics: Thanks! I would rather not self diagnose via le interwebs, but I don't really have anybody to go to about this haha. If you have any tips or ideas don't leave me hanging! (:

WOW what a list just like the first comment saying that's me too. Well I don't think people should self diagnose based on the internet. But if you are experiencing these things you could potentially be a medium.

I just kept going down saying: that's me... That's me... That's me! So basically everything you listed is a yea for me. I know I am a medium/physic. Even my friends mom, who is one, told me so and basically made me her apprentice so she could teach me things I need to know. Since she moved, though, I feel lost. I found this site on accident and I basically flipped because everyone's story is so similar to mine. I can't offer much advice because, like I said, my friend's mom left and I forgot a lot, but I can say you do have something special about you. I think you just might be one.

I've never seen anything in real life. Ok, maybe a vague transparent outline around my hands that could be an aura. I've also had several OBEs, but don't have much control. My first OBE when I was a child scared me (and no one explained it to me properly) so I think I created a block. I do have interesting dreams sometimes. But my OBEs occurred during/around sleep, so they can be "dismissed" as mere dreams. Oh, and once, I'm pretty sure I saw a UFO. Never seen anything like it since, and by now I know rather well what airplanes look like at night. But it could have been a helicopter or something.

I've always been interested in things like magic. When I found the section in the library with all the new-age books, I would read every book that seemed interesting/worthwhile. I also used to read a lot of fantasy and some sci-fi books. I've always felt different (doesn't everyone...). I've preferred to be alone because friends distract me from reading. Friends also require expenditure of emotional power. It's easier not to worry about other people.

I tend to over-intellectualize. Were I a little bit different, perhaps disappointed with futile paranormal researches or burnt by a mainstream religion, I would be one of those people telling you it's all in your mind and that all you woo woo new-agers are deluded. But I'm not. Still, I'm all for healthy skepticism. Pick apart ALL the arguments!

What I mean is, I have not attributed such things as depression, introversion, or dreams about unfamiliar people to anything super-natural. So far that is. Perhaps I should take a second look. After all, there might come a point when I must "interpret every phenomenon as a particular dealing of God with my soul." http://www.heruraha.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6376

Every person is different. Some have all these out-of-this-world experiences and others barely have anything. Some accept experiences, and some don't. I think most people have at least something they've experienced that's not "normal" (or rather, what would be accepted as normal by mainstream). I mostly wrote the above to show that no, not everyone has all of the signs that you do.

Bloodredrose; Thanks for sharing! So would you say that I should just kind of stop looking? I would like to develop this gift if it is true that I have it. How do I do that without trying? (I mean that as an honest question, not being rude haha 😊)

Anaelyssa; Thanks for the input, Ill do a little more searing around 😊 I also mean though like... I understand people on this website will have a lot of the same signs, or they wouldn't be here. But do you think that like everybody in the world has all these signs if they're just interested enough to look into it?

As for having sings, try reading various experiences on this website. You'll find lots of people with subsets of the signs you listed. Someone might get deja-vu and weird dreams, someone else might have healing abilities and see ghosts, etc...

As for inquisitiveness, I think that's a characteristic all children possess until it gets beaten out of them in school. Math is easy and fun, composition is worthwhile, and history is interesting and important. But not when you have classes at 7 in the morning and homework every day. College isn't quite enough to heal those old wounds.

ok...You do have a Thirst for Knowledge and that's good. I sometimes see lights and shadows without my glasses, and for now I need to get them fixed, but they show up lots of times. I have experienced with seeing demons but not interacting with them, except almost dying because of one and of my recent story I posted up. I too can guess the right answer or what people might say. And you may not be going crazy because I went through the same thing. I know when spirits are near or enter my dreams. One time, a ghost from a youtube channel just entered my dream and screamed her scream and that was when I knew that my dream is not my own anymore and I needed to help her. It was only that the ghost girl didn't want the girl that lived in the house to leave. She didn't want to be alone, and I told her just tell her your feelings and send for my help. She felt better and left, and I woke up. I let my gift to show me things either in dreams or in the real world. Spirits can show me their lives and they leave me alone. And I sometimes see the future, then they turn into dejavu moments and I knew that it was suppose to happen that way. Sometimes my visions show babies. If I see a parent then I know who might be having the baby next. If its me having the kid then its a wild guess on who get pregnant next because I don't have someone to get me babies. So my advice is to let your gift show you thing what it wants to show you and not try to ask for what you want to see or feel or not feel because that is how you lose the gift. I hope I was a bit helpful. Enjoy life as much as you can. BRRose

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

I just skimmed your list, but here are some comments. The pressure in different parts of your body likely corresponds to chakras. Seeing things that aren't there or when you close your eyes sounds like you have astral sight (as well as astral smell it seems).

It might be that you worked a lot on this stuff in a previous incarnation and so the abilities come automatically to you in this one.

Since you thirst for knowledge, let me try to quench (or maybe fire up) that thirst:
Here's a bunch of magickal theory and related things http://hermetic.com/crowley/magick-without-tears/
Here are some super powerful channeled works. I would not be surprised if someone as sensitive as you were to feel energy from them.
