How to Tell Your Parents You Are Psychic

I know it's hard to tell your parents about any psychic abilities. The first thing you need to decide though is if you'll tell them, parents tend to believe what they want to hear so prepare for the worst, unless you have an understanding parent. This is what I told my parent:

I started by asking if they believe in psychic abilities, then I talked about how they discovered that in ancient times almost everyone could predict the future and that it was a natural instinct that slowly died down over the generations.

Then I told them about me being able to see the future from my dreams, at first they didn't believe, so I did what any determined person would do, do some research. After that you try again, try to make it sound "unjokish", as my my sister calls it, and shoot for an understanding.

If all else fails tell them how being a psychic is a gift from god, a gift to try to help people and warn them of any danger in the future, except maybe death because that would freak people out.

So even though telling your parents will be hard, you still have to try. You can't avoid it forever. For I have never known a single person who has been able to hide anything from their parents for more then a week or two. Never.

hi, i've told my dad already about being psychic. My mom sort-of knows... But I didn't really get to talk to her. She doesn't really believe in this sort of stuff, though she is sort of understanding. I've been hiding my abilities from her a bit, but it's getting hard. I since my dad is scared of me, and thinks i'm a freak, so I need new help.

It is good that you are trying to tell them about it, I would tell mine but they aren't even the slightest religious in anyway exept every so often we to to church, my head felt like I was going to explode so very few good friends know. I wish I could tell them like you but I think I may be one if the people to keep the secret the longest. I have kept it for three and a half years, maybe almost four. I don't know how I did it but I did. But if you don't mind can I ask you, why did you decide this instead of telling a good friend and how long did you wait until you told them?, sorry if too much to ask but, some of my friends are like me but none have ever told their parents nor allowed the idea because they were stricken down by fear and worry that consumed them. Also consumed their judgement as well

I don't tell my parents ANYTHING. I've hidden my psychic secrets from them for more than a week. It's been months now. I never told anyone of my family. I did tell my sister once, but she thought I was lying so I had to "lie" to her that I was "joking." I don't think it's time yet for me to tell. I'm not ready.

This is wonderful news. Continue to feel confident and appreciate the gift you have been given. Never allow anyone to lower your self esteem. Remember, you have friends here.

When people bring up "God" and tell you that your gift is from the devil, kindly remind them that the bible is full of prophets and prophecies.

I believe it was in the movie "Knowing" in which it was stated which chapters and verses of the bible mention that many of us are born with the "gift" of prophecy and that it is a gift from God. It is nothing to be feared if it is used only for good purposes.

Channeling spirits is not demon possession.

Psychic ability and Mediumship are not Schizophrenia.

I need to tell my parents (I'm only 13) but every time I try to bring it up my parents start rattling on about God and the ten commandments so now I'm stuck. I've luckily found out that one of my closest friends whole family, including her have a "gift". I've been trying to tell them for nine months now, but as I have already explained, religon. Someone help me. 😨

How to make people believe:

1. Tell them something about them that you sense. Read them. Then they will believe you more. (SHOW that you are psychic.)

2. Give references from people who have witnessed your abilities, or just mention those many friends and relatives of yours who have witnessed it. (Hearing that other people have seen your abilties will help others believe.)

3. Have someone else tell them about your vision. (This 3rd party person will work as your reference.)

4. Show them the notes you wrote down about the vision/dream. (Again more physical proof.)

5. Tell them that most of your visions almost always comes true. (especially if yours always end up in the news like mine do.)

6. If you had a premonition about them: Keep the focus on them rather than on you. Convince them that you care about what happens to them and that you hope to prevent it. (Rather than talking all about your abilities and how awkward your life is as a psychic. If you seem to be uncomfortable with it, then they will be too.)

7. Tell them you hope you are WRONG. (People have ego. They want to be right and also worry you just want to be right, so they hope to prove you wrong by not listening to your warning and going ahead with it anyways. So telling them that you hope to be wrong will scare them into believing.)

8. People like physical proof. (When it is a stranger sometimes a business card stating you are a psychic helps convince them.

i told my mom today. She didn't really want to hear it but also didn't want me to stop telling her. Essentially, she gave me some solutions that will help me be able to control it (which is what I've been learning to do lately). It really helped me start my journey of developing these skills. And it's been a fun day! No worries, my friends.

Before I learned of my psychic abilties, I told my mom how I saw scary things in my head and my other " problems ". If I told her I now I know what it is, I doubt she would believe me... And I have been keeping this a secret for at least four weeks now.

im not sure how to tell mine eather. My mom doesn't believe in anything she can't see <other then god/jesus>. She says its all nonsence. I asked her if she believed in spirits, ghosts, psychic ect. But she doesnt. I was on my way to telling her until this point. I'm sure she would have wanted me to see a shrink or something. Now I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to tell her.

I tried to tell my parents about it 3 years ago but my dad just laughed and said, "can you see into next week's lottery numbers?" so I have been a bit nervous since then! So you rock my sox! 😆

Edmund - I told a couple of people months ago that it would happen. I've avoided this person, not sure how I felt. Guess I mostly feel like it's just time. When I ran into her, she just happened to have just been there and had the key with her. She's a great gal and just needs a break. A little I wish someone else would have taken it on. I think they would have if she had asked them. I think she felt it was my baby too for whatever reason. The phrase - clear as mud - comes to mind. Told you I was selfish. I like my time and not great at asking for help.

GlendaSC... Yes it was a nice weekend the volunteer place sounds interesting and so does the way the key was handed over. How do you really feel about it ?

Guess I want input. 7 or 8 months ago met a woman who started a volunteer place about 4 years ago. Took time setting it up then, and she won some kind of national award. I've gone and helped there a few times. A lot of people have. I had a feeling... Ran into her in a parking lot a few evenings ago. She gave me the master key. I told her I'd get it copied and give it back. She said that she didn't really want it back. Lots going on. That was pretty plain and final. Well, it only takes 2-15 hours a week, depending on the load and who helps. I almost hid in the parking lot from her. But felt it was going to happen long ago. Still a little getting use to the idea. Guess I have a new hobby.

Hi Edmund and Holli! Hope you are settled into your new house. My daughter has been fussing about what a hassle moving is... She had herself and two suitcases just under 50 lbs each.

When I had my last "dream," the holding hands one, I wrote it down to remember the details. Part of it was a statue of like a cupid holding a sharp, pointed thing. Wondered if might be on a gate or something. It was one of the things I saw a long time. Figured it was a marker of some sort. Well, I've been reading and thinking. Read sometime if you have time, II Samuel 22:10-11. That made me wonder.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

hollinor... I don't believe that at the time your Mom would have believed you. You have carried this around for quite a long time. But now that you have had a few days to think when did the growling first start ?

hollinor, id hate to say it but there was nothing you can do, the universe corrects itself, if not the breast cancer it would be somrthing worse. Plus uyou were in uncharted territroy you mom might not of believed you. I know how you feel, I lost my dad when I was little and it still hurts

But there is another side to the story dragonman. At that time my mother had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. He doctor told her there was nothing to worry about, just come back and six months and then they would see where they were then. Friggin' idiot doctor! Anyway, we didn't find out until it was too late. If I had told her about my dream, then she could have used that information to make a better decision about her healthcare instead of listening to that wackjob. My mother came from a generation where doctors were highly respected and you took them at their word. The price for that was her life. I was just coming into my gifts then, so I didn't know what I was dealing with. I do now, and I'm getting better at it.

well hollinor, after predicting the death of a loved one, I wouldn't want to know any bad things that will happen to me either
