The idea of the supernatural and having psychic abilities have always intrigued me. Of course, I had the normal curiosities with Ouija Boards and Tarot Cards. I believe my weird experiences are direct results of them.
I had received a pack of Rider Waite cards from a Wiccan friend when I was roughly 13 years old. I read the book, studied the cards, their meanings and symbols. I had done quite a few readings, both leading and misleading. I am not sure exactly when all the bad had started but it was pretty intense for a few years and fortunately has quieted down.
It all started when I decided to self meditate to a tarot card, as explained in the included book. If you are familiar with the book, there is one card you are specifically told not to use for self meditation. Of course, being in my teens, I decided to use that card.
So, it was silent in my room. I was sitting on the edge of my bed. I was reciting the meanings of the symbols of the card, as well as the card's whole meaning over in my head. For ten minutes or so, the same. Repeating the symbols and meanings of the card. The last thing I remember is total silence and darkness. I was completely blank. Then all of a sudden, in my head, I heard the most loudest, frightening growl. As if something growled in my ear. I even thought I felt the warm breeze of the howl in my ear. It did not sound human or animal. It seemed totally out of this world. It was so loud and frightening and seemed to have lasted forever. I could not believe what happened. Once done, I immediately awoke and removed myself from the room. I destroyed the cards shortly after.
I believe the experiences, I have had since, derived from this exact moment. I have had so many of those dreams where you appear to be paralyzed. You cannot move, speak or anything. But I was able to clearly see and hear everything around me. I have even seen mists of white hovering above and around me.
Once, I was sleeping on my stomach, in another paralyzed state, when something appeared to have jumped onto my back. It had grabbed me by shoulders and shook me violently for some time. After awhile, it said, "I have to go... My dad's home!" Once able, I immediately jumped out of bad and ran to the common area.
There are numerous things that have happened to me since. Your typical shadows dancing, cold chills and immediate feelings of doom. People yelling bad and obscene things and balls of light. Almost all of these senses have slowly disappeared with the years. I totally shut it all out. But I still have the occasional creeps. Please feel free to comment with alike experiences or your own or opinions on the matter.
What I meant to say was, Rider-Waite is considered to be a corrupt/incorrect deck. It probably works just as well for divination, but I wouldn't recommend meditating upon cards with mixed up meanings.
If you think everything started from meditating on a specific card, try learning more about that card, especially the lighter (as in light vs dark) part of its meaning. I don't know the specific card you're talking about, but here are a couple guesses. Part of Death is rebirth, just like spring comes only after death-bringing winter. The Tower can also be destruction of obstacles or belief systems. For example, a revolution can be utterly destructive of the previous government and social system, but that might be a good thing. I still find the Devil to be hard to figure out.
The dreams where you are appear to be paralyzed are most likely sleep paralysis (which can lead to OBEs). Sleep paralysis is generally not considered bad in itself, but some people have scary encounters with lower astral beings while in such a state. And I gather it's scarier to meet something while you're paralyzed and seemingly awake than it is in a normal dream.
If you think you're being haunted by demons, you might try to do an exorcism or pray to God/Universe/Eternal Light to rid you of them.
