Several days ago I went to my place of employment to resign. I had trained for a month and worked for one week. I took my best friend with me.
I had observed another staff make several medication errors and nothing was done about it. I also found that the staff person was working on her own time because she could not get things done on her shift. The morning that I resigned, I had already made two serious medication errors due to feeing totally overwhelmed and ill trained.
I was very concerned about the house residents who were all disabled and not willing to put them or myself in danger.
When I went back to the house to get my things (bi-weekly live in position) I put my stuff in my car, spoke to my supervisor and then wanted to go say goodbye to the residents who were getting into the van.
As I was walking through the living room I noticed a woman sitting on the couch by the door which was open. She had on a white suit (jacket, pants and shoes), and her jacket was embroidered with crystals or something. She had red hair which was styled in a little bob and she wore glasses. She had no expression on her face and I did not have a feeling about her one way or the other. My first thoughts were that she was way over dressed for the occasion and that if she was some V.P. From the company it was not going to stop me from saying goodbye to the residents.
I said goodbye, returned to the house, and noticed she was gone. At that point I figured she was a parent or guardian who had gone out the front door and gotten into the van.
As my friend and I were driving home, I asked her who the heck she thought that woman was. My friend said there was no other woman in the house. I called the staff person and asked her if there had been any other adults around. She said no. My first response to all this was that if I could see her, why I couldn't see my father who I miss so much. I cried for three days over this.
Needless to say, others don't believe me and I have one friend I could lose over this who is very religious. I love her a lot and we have been able to negotiate a friendship in spite of our extreme differences.
The only other time this has happened to me was in 1994 when my son was about 15. We were in our home and noticed that the kid next door was in the street and that several gang members were approaching him. This kid was very tall and quite intellectually disabled. He had a history of fighting. My son and I went out into the street to protect him.
As a crowd gathered my son and I heard someone right behind us say "Go back inside your house."
We looked at this man who was dressed in black (floor length coat, big hat and cowboy boots) and without comment we went back into the house.
Neither one of us are people who would immediately obey without asking questions, especially under those circumstances. When I turned around to look at him again he was gone. He did not have time to go anywhere. I asked my son if he saw the guy leave and he said no. We were both a little amazed but that was that. No one else in the area saw the man in black.
Without us even taking notice, the situation with our neighbor resolved it's self.
And come to think of it, neither my son nor I paid attention to any of it once we got in the house.
The only other information I can add:
After seeing the woman in white, I had powerful dreams for the next three days involving my Dad. I am an avid dream worker and have made life changing decisions based on dreams.
I believe my father has visited me on 3 occasions when I ask for him. I either dream of people right before they die or right after, in a way that is beyond dreaming.
In summary, I have never had an experience like the recent woman in white, where I have had to consider what's going on here? I would love to discuss this and to hear what others might have to say.
Best regards to you,
L. Seale
