Cayote Elemental Spirit

I had been trying to reach out to my animal totem when ever I had gone out to nature and I kept seeing a coyote. I kind of thought it was a coincidence when I would see a coyote anyway my mentor thought when it was time that we would go on a journey he told me to meditate and find out were we needed to go. I had premonitions of a desert and some other places like a forest and by the ocean but the desert stood out to me. I called him a few weeks later and he told me he seen a desert I was a bit surprised and astonished and excited at the same time. Well I had been dreaming of coyotes and at the same time I felt as if I was suppose to meet some sort of male war desert god that was fool of wisdom I wanted to tell him but I was distracted because the holiday were around and I was being targeted by a lot of things, everything from drama, shadow people, reptilians, and meeting an angel. So I had to wait until I seen him in person when I did and we clear up all the distractions he mentioned coyote out of nowhere I never even mentioned to him that I had been seeing coyotes. I called him a week later to catch up on the subject and he told me its a elemental spirit that has to do with coyotes. I was excited to hear him say that but the thing is I don't know much about elemental spirits and how to communicate with them so can anybody give me advice on how to do so.
