I'm thirteen, and psychic, and I've been trying to make my powers stronger for a while now, and so far it's been working. But there's one I've been sort of practicing, but not really trying at, and suddenly I have a new talent that I think is linked to one of my other powers.
One of the stories I recently published; 'Unknown Knowledge,' is about when I started absorbing information from people through their hands, and it's changed since then. Now it's if I have skin on skin contact I get a sudden rush of energy, so I try not to touch people's hands, or skin, which is rather difficult to start with. But now, I think I have Psychometry.
Psychometry is the power to absorb information when you touch an object, and can be a form of psychic reading.
The first time this happened was not even two weeks ago, and I picked up a library off of my bed stand and I suddenly felt an overdose of energy, and saw faces in my mind. I dropped the book, still in shock, and I sat on my bed. The rest of the night I kept feeling things with whatever I touched, and the spot would heat up for a second, then go back to normal.
I've found that the worst to touch is money, door handles, library books, computer mouse or keyboards, and dishes. So far it hasn't toned down, and I've found I hate when people touch my house key, my i-pod, my cell phone, my computer, anything I touch a lot. I also can't feel my own energy, although that's not actually that much of a surprise.
So, in conclusion, if ANYONE has any advice, or experiences, or just a comment, it would be greatly appreciated.
I hope you manage to control this effectively soon.: (
I have no psychic abilities but am writing a book, actually am nearly finished it. My main character has Psychomentry and I wanted to come here for real life experiences of what people have to live with.
I hope this isn't selfish of me.
Please don't hate me for writing this but my character wears gloves most of the time. I feel so so bad having read that real people struggle with this sort of gift. For the past 3 years psychomentry has just been something I write about for a made up character.
Embrace what you have. I hope the bubble method from Tessa in the comment above helps you.
