Back when I was younger, I have always had this bed that you could be able to attach 4 posters to it and a canopy. I really have always loved the idea of a 4 poster bed but when I had that canopy up, I would always toss stuff up there to be lazy like maybe some notebooks, pencils, a couple of dolls or dirty clothes. I did this for the longest time and it would happen occasionally and even more so whenever I would have maybe a bit too much stuff up there. I would hear this crazy rustling sound right ABOVE my canopy! It would only happen at night too. I would tell my mom and she'd say it's probably just mice since I had so much junk up there. I am most certain that it wasn't just mice though because eventually, I got sick of hearing that scary noise so I would take off all of the stuff on top of the canopy and I would still hear that noise. My mom would then go to tell me maybe it's mice up in the ceiling then but how can the rustling noise be so loud and crystal clear sounding then in my room. If it was in the ceiling it'd be muffled right? (my parent's house is by a lot of farm land so mice wasn't uncommon but I know what a mouse sounds like vs. The noise that I heard).
Anyway, to make a long story short, I had my dad take down the 4 poster/canopy hoping to solve the problem. (I was never brave enough to get out of bed at night to look above my canopy to see what was making the noise at that age). So for a few more nights afterwards, I could still hear that noise as if it was hanging in mid air right above my bed! I would pretend that I didn't notice but I would be scared. So for a long time, I didn't have the canopy up but as I got older in my teen years I wanted it back.
It didn't stay up for long because I made sure I never put stuff up there. But even that didn't help because the rustling noise came back. After a few weeks I had my Dad take it down again and just as before, for a few more nights afterwards, that noise would be there above my bed but it would stop eventually as time would go on.
I'm not to sure what it is that I experienced. It makes no sense to me why the noise would only be associated with my bed's canopy. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions? And no the bed was never 2nd hand used either.
