Death Rites? Anubis?

So I was talking to my mum today about my childhood psychic experiences when she brought up some quite interesting things. We began discussing how when I was only 2 years old I covered my baby brother in talcum powder and laid him out like an Egyptian mummy with his feet together and arms folded over chest then laid a blanket over him (He was asleep when I did this) apparently I ran to my mum and grandmother and said that he was dead. They of course made sure he was okay but were shocked to see what I had done. The thing is my mum didn't know where I got the idea for this from. Since I was only a toddler I obviously was not allowed to watch or be around anything that could give me ideas like that.

A few more things like this happened as I grew up and according to her I knew things about death rites ect that I couldn't possibly of found out by myself or from relatives. She also mentioned how when I found out about the egyptian god Anubis whilst in primary school he soon became my favorite god. I remember been totally fasinated by his job. I see ghosts and things like that but when I was little I could see them better than I do now, since now they mostly appear as human figures but filled with colour.

So what do you think? Any ideas as to why I was and still am fasinated by Anubis and despite never wanting to deal or work with dead bodies am still very intrested in death rites and traditions?

Just curious as to how I knew about the death thing at 2 years old (it's kind of creepy). Thank you

I am glad that the moon trump helped. I was doubting whether or not I should mention it and almost didn't say anything. Perhaps they are not relevant to your situation, but you might want to look at the other cards too. They, especially the trumps, are packed with symbolism and connected to various archetypes of the human subconscious. There's also the Book of Thoth which contains the description and explanations of the cards. If nothing else, you might find the description of the Moon trump to be useful http://hermetic.com/crowley/book-of-thoth/atu.html.

On an aside, the day that I first commented on your story, I went to the nearby city (I live in the suburbs) and randomly noticed a statue of Anubis (it has been temporarily put up because the King Tut exhibition is visiting). Yay for coincidences.

It could be echoes of a past life. Throughout history it has always been the women who have laid out the dead, (and dealt with birth for that matter).

thank you 😊 very useful information. The thoth tarot trump of moon was especially useful, it kind of links to some things i've been seeing and dreaming for a while so thanks for including it in your answer 😁 i'd never have looked for it otherwise.

The most obvious answer would be past incarnations as an Egyptologist and/or someone in Egypt who was involved with such rites, perhaps a priest of Anubis. Another similar answer would be that you had access (as children are usually more psychic) to the Universal Archive or Akashic Records and happened to download that specific file.

In any case, since you're still interested in it, you should go with the flow and try to learn more about it. For starters, try reading the Egyptian Book of the Dead (or the parts of it that interest you personally). Here's an online version of the text http://www.sacred-texts.com/egy/ebod/. If you have the opportunity, go visit some Egyptian exhibition.

Another research direction could be to learn about equivalents of Anubis in other cultures. Try this Wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopomp.

As for being fascinated with death, it can be interpreted as wanting to know what happens after death. How a culture prepares the dead shows that culture's opinions on what happens to a person after death.

Since you've spoken about Anubis, I want to recommend that you look at the Thoth Tarot trump of Moon.
