A while back, I was lying asleep in my bed and I woke suddenly. Have you ever felt like someone has just come into the room and they're looking right at you? It was kind of like that. I remember I was wasn't scared, I was actually pretty calm. I was only thinking, 'Oh I hope I don't smell something burning.' I continued to think about what I would do if I did, considering my options. I would either run out of the house (in case something was actually on fire) or I would pray incessantly (if there was no fire). It didn't occur to me that I might actually smell something. I'd seen a movie called the Exorist a week or so before this, and I thought I was probably just scared from the movie. I was almost entirely awake by now, but I didn't feel like getting up because I was tired and wanted to go back to sleep. Then I smelled it...
A sulfuric smell rushed up my nose and my breathing quickened as I pushed my head backward to be rid of the smell. The second I smelled it, my heart instinctively began racing and I tried to get up to run out of the room... But I couldn't. I was held down by some unseen force, and I felt like I could see a faint shadowy outline of a figure in my mind's eye. It was more of a sensing than a seeing, and it freaked my out more than a little. I immediately started praying for God to help me, to rescue me. I had tried to move, to scream, to open my mouth, but none of it worked and the smell hadn't gone away. Soon, I felt a sigh - like the room had exhaled - and I wasn't pinned down anymore. I booked it to my parent's room (I'm 17) and by the time I got there I was already sobbing. Their room is right across the hall, so the fact that I already couldn't breathe or speak through my tears gives you some indicator of how terrifying this experience was for me.
After I'd told him what happened, he said I'd just had a nightmare and told me to go back to bed. Said that I'd probably just been paralyzed because I hadn't fully woken up yet and that I'd continue dreaming even while awake (which is a natural function of the body, for those that didn't know. It's called a night terror.) The weird part is, I can remember everything that happened, which shouldn't be possible with night terrors. It only happens in rare cases... Also, I think I was laying on my side and then ended up on my back somehow, though I don't remember actually moving... I might've only thought I was on my side at first, but I can't be sure. If I was, then there's no way this is just a night terror, or that I could've been naturally paralyzed, because that would mean I had moved before I suddenly couldn't. It's only been somewhat this bad once before, but that was 5 years ago and I was still able to move that time. Comments?
Something that I do that might also help you is to mentally envision the white light of Jesus to move throughout your entire home until every nook and cranny has been covered. Ask that God keep your home a safe, and happy place for those that love him only.
This should do the trick.
