My sister and I were about 8 and 10 when we had an experience in the 1990s that to this day we are unable to explain. I've even Googled to see if anyone had written about something similar, but turned up nothing. We talked about this experience again recently, so I thought I'd submit this story.
She and I were lying on the trampoline, staring up at the sky at around 4:30-5:00 in the evening. The sky was fairly clear, but not sunny. Suddenly, we saw a group of circles moving slowly across it. The circles were small and white like clouds, only they didn't behave like clouds. They remained as solid circles, and did not change shape the way clouds do. There may have been 6 or more of them; I cannot remember the exact number. We watched the circles move across the sky until they disappeared out of view.
My sister thinks the explanation could be extra-terrestrial, but I am not so sure. I only know of two people who saw a UFO (and one of them was my grandmother in the 1920s, long before Roswell and the post WW2 media hype, I might add) and both said that they saw a flying object that moved very quickly - faster than any aeroplane. These circles were taking their time.
So what did we see?
No it didn't look like that. They were rings, not solid white mass, but thanks for your contribution.
