I'm 16, and I am having trouble with finding what my power/ability is. I know for a fact that I am very different. I notice things others don't, like people walking a certain way and I notice how people move. I can read people really well; if that's an ability. But I have taken test, tried a few chants, and even tried many other things and I get nothing out of them. Yet sometimes my senses are incredible, but I have no signs of ESP. I hope I'm not crazy. Also I have tried the whole elements, spells, crystals, etc. But nothing shows any results, yet I have a deep feeling like I should be waiting for something. Like something is not letting me do stuff because its not time. I don't know for sure, and I know this may sound crazy but I get that gut feeling every time I try something and it would really help me out a lot if someone could offer some good advice on how to awake whatever is waiting in me. Oh, and sometimes I hear things... Like telling me to do stuff. Not crazy bad stuff, just stuff like "Get up,please" and my name being said in my ear. But it only happens when I'm laying in bed. But my house is not haunted. I have lived here for 7 years and nothing paranormal has really went on except that. So if someone could comment below and give me some advice it would be appreciated very much!

People on this site keep repeating "learn to meditate, do meditate" in order to expand, or develop, psychic abilities. But one can have bad disappointments with most of the "official" meditative techniques available, and thus give it up prematurely.
There is a way in which this risk does not exist. If there be any music that you feel to be really in tune with you, fitting to you, listen to it with full concentration whenever you want to relax, or to forget the world. The more attention you need to perceive and follow the music, the better. Thus, pieces of music that are changing and / or complex in character are better for this than monotonous and repetitive pieces. I used Progrock of the Seventies for that. Others use classical music.
This may be enough of meditative technique to be necessary for an ordinary person (as meself and you). It does not tend to produce boredom, and thus repudiance, which is a big obstacle in other techniques of meditation. Thus, listening to one's favourite music will often be more effective than mantras or similar things in Western persons.
