I'm wondering if anyone can help me?

The other night I was sleeping and after a couple of hours restless sleep, I woke up and stared at the ceiling.

I was awake for probably 10 minutes when I saw on the ceiling coming from the foot of the bed towards the wall above my head, a black thick mist.

I have a dream catcher hanging there and the mist went towards the dream catcher and seemed to bounce back out of it.

I was definitely awake and I know I was not imagining it or dreaming.

We have only been living in this house for approximately 2 months and I have never come across this before.

I have been having a lot of personal problems in my life lately and I don't know what this may be.

It really scared me and I have no idea what to make of this. I do believe in after life, spirits that visit homes, but I'm unsure of what this may be.

The same thing happened again last night, only this time it was thicker and didn't reach the dream catcher, it just seem to hover directly above my partner and myself.

I woke my partner this time but by the time he was awake it had disappeared to I don't know where.

I'm sure whatever it is isn't harmful but it does bother me to the point I don't want to look at the ceiling if I wake.

Please help me to understand what this may be.

Sounds like disembodied energy. It could also be a thoughtform that could be trying to influence your dreams and as of yet hasn't been able too. At first I thought it was a sprite (since I've seen the small little white spirits) but the color threw me off. It sounds a lot more like traveling negative energy. It shouldn't be that hard to get rid of by some sage-burning, prayer and even salt. This sounds general weak, so it won't be that hard to to make disappear.

You can force it away if you want. White energy repels black mist like that. Raingoddess is right, black doesn't mean it's evil. But the fact that it is repelled by a protective thing like a dreamcatcher implies that it is harmful in some way.
You can pray for it to go away, or ask for an angel to remove it etc.

i agree... I have a...different "ability"...i know things... I don't know how but I do. Black mist may be an spiritual being good or evil. Black is often associated with evil just like white is associated with good. But this isn't neccesarily tru. Pray. Read acts in the bible you may not know this but the bible has directions to get rid of spirits among other things. It is probably the best source of info. But to decipher it you hav to hav faith.

Hm...it sounds a little inhuman... You could burn some sage and try to banish it and hang up more signs of protection like a dream catcher. If your Christian a cross, Jewish a star of David you get the idea anyways your beliefs will protect you.
