Holding Back While Out of Body

I have been experiencing astral projection for the last 8 years and the last few nights have been very scary. I know it's about to happen because I hear a buzzing noise or a humming noise and then my soul leaves my body, usually, I just levitate around the room, float from one point of the room to the other.

However, for the past few nights, I feel as if someone is literally holding me down and won't let me leave my body. I feel their arms wrapped around me and it's scary, it's not a comforting feeling at all! Last night was the worst - I was trying to leave my body, it felt like all night, and there was this growling voice in my ear, holding me down. It was awful and I was exhausted this morning, I knew what was happening, but I kept feeling myself slip into that state and it was out of my control.

What can I do? I know I'm not alone, will someone please give me advice? How can I control this? Why is this happening? Is there truly an evil entity surrounding me, holding me down?

Thank you!

This happened to me twice. And the first time was brutal, as I got scared and tryed to move. Bad choice. The more I strugled, the more aggresive it got. I felt like somebody was pushing on my chest as hard as he could, and that he was holding my hands down from the wrists. I was facing upwards. So after panicking for a while without any result I did the only thing left to do. I started praying to God. And gradually I felt free and could move again. Like kcw I think this was not a natural thing and coul have been some sort of an demonic atack. I think it wasn't a sleep paralysis because: 1. I heard flyes in the room, lots of them 2. I felt another person 3. It was holding me down brutally only when I tryed to get up 4. My eyes were not closed and I didn't have to wake up after I got free, I was already awake 5 And my final decisive argument is that I woke up my girlfriend that was sleeping next to me the second I could move, told her waht happened and then we both saw something that freaked me out. Both my wrists had mauve bruises, transversal on the blood vassels, about 0,5cm wide and about 6 cm long. It tooked almost 20 minutes in cold water for them to disapear.
The second time I wasn't scared anymore, so the firts thing I did was praying, without panicking. Got free real easy, without any struggle. Excuse my spelling, I'm not a native english speaker.

Hi, this is kind of new to me, but it sounds a lot like what I used to experince when I was younger. When I was young about 3-6 I used to have nightmares every night, the same dream was repeated over and over again, floating in my bedroom, a meter of the ground, feeling...controled? Or helpless, then I would zoom in on a picture on the wall, which I could never remember, an un-moving stare, then someone would speak to me in an unfamilar language, as if an old poem... My mum said it happened every night at the same time and that I stoped when started to wake me up every time before I happened, but recently it come back, being 15 now, I don't control this dream, and it still scares me, sometimes recently I can see fowards into the future, meaningless things but still... Is this normal? Has this occured to anyone else?

I had this happen to me when I used to be into this kind of stuff. It happened the first time I successfully left my body. I was trying very hard for about 10 minutes or so. I was tired and finally gave up. As soon as I started to drift off to sleep, I suddenly became very aware and felt myself sliding downward out of my body. I could see the room exactly as it was but not through my physical eyes. I felt myself sliding very slowly. I then heard a very vicious growling coming from below me (I was on a top bunk). At the time I think my immediate thought was that it was the dog, but it wasn't until after I jolted back into my body that I realized the dog was definitely not in the room, or anywhere near. Call it what you want to, I'm sure now that it was a demon. I don't recommend playing around with this kind of stuff; it definitely didn't do me any good during those years.

Rick, I have had similar experiences with seeing what should be left unknown. At first I will admit that I was terrified. You just have to think rationally about the things you remember from your experiences. As for what people will think of you, forget what people think.

Patricia, you need to get the book by Robert Bruce called ASTRAL DYNAMICS. Bruce explains
what this phenomenon is all about. This book is really indispensable.

i've had this happen 2 me before. It happened every night for a week and I was so scared to go to sleep. It happens because your not all the way asleep but your not all the way awake either its not because there's aliens or spirits in your room. To avoid it just made sure your really really tired before you go to sleep so you just pass out. Listen to music you like definitly eat something before you go to sleep like hot chocolate or something like that and just get really comfortable and think relaxing thoughts. I've never had a problem with it since. Just make sure when you start to feel it coming on force yourself to wake up or it will get a lot worse...

Patricia, I go through the same experience
you do...I'm not sure what it is that's grabing me but it is very scary... I now know how to deal with this situation... Try to be positive through out the experience, talk to the identity telepathically, Say a prayer and try to be positive, negative energy only makes it worse... When I started to be positve the identity slowly began to loosen their grip, and one time the identity turned me around and let me see Him... I hope this helps you... I know exactly what you're going through... God bless you... Tyler

My comment is about astral projection. My experience is the same as Patricia's from Ca.
The buzzing noise is the same as I have experienced, I am able to pivot from the center of my abdomen. At this point I am slightly above my body but my head is above my physical feet then I make an assent with wind rushing past me.
During my projection I rarely have seen anything that would be considered as a premonition but I have on more than 20 accounts visited family and friends from as far as 1500 miles away without leaving my own house. I have verified these visits by recanting actions, arguements, discussions, sexual encounters with me being in my own home.
During the normal course of my daily events, lately I have been overcome by what I can only explain as a vision that I have stood and watched events as if in a dream. As time goes
on,these "visions" as hard as I try to ignore keep happening much like a large handful of water you try to keep from leaking through your fingers.
I need help... I see things I don't need to know. What I see that I need to go forward with, I am afraid of what others will think of me. I'm not a freak am I?

As the writer of the article on how to perform a native american ceremony, I would make the suggestion that you do the whole ceremony and not only the sage. You will notice an increase in the positive energy flow of your home and of the entites which inhabit it. Good luck to you on your travels.

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.

Thank you for publishing my story.
As a matter of fact, I did sage my house before I logged onto your site
and I slept well last night and the night before, phew! I might have
to
get into the habbit of saging once a month or so out of good practice.
I experience astral sometimes 3 times a week or months will go by
before
another experience.
When I first moved into my house, the first two nights were very scary
-
one figure appeared at the edge of my bed and shaking it by, uh,
pleasuring himself if you will. The next night, a man in his 60s
walked
into my room and I challenged him, bad move, he took an axe and hit me
with it, I'll never ever forget the rage on his face. Of course I
didn't feel any pain, but I called the troops and we blessed the house
with buddha water and sage.
Normally, however, I just float around my room. I have a cousin who is
able to actually walk around her neighborhood! I look forward to not
being scared anymore when it happens so I can explore.

Patricia, I forgot to mention, but once you fix your more urgent problem, it would be nice to read some of your other astral projection stories.

I think there could be a few possibilities. For one, you could be subconsciously stopping yourself- and it's not actually a separate force stopping you- but your own fear possibly. Another reason could be, as Martin suggested another being 'holding' you down, but this could be for a few different reasons- either to torment you, or maybe the ghost/spirit/interferer is trying to help you; just maybe you could bring harm to yourself in your little excursions and they are trying to help the only way they know how.
I'd try talking aloud the next time you try to assure whoever is around that you're not trying to harm anyone and as funny as it sounds, that you 'come in peace'. This will also work to calm yourself and maybe get you beyond any barriers that might be there.

Patricia, if you feel it might be a case of a ghost haunting your house and manifesting itself while you are in the astral, you might want to clean your house with a smudging ceremony. That's something to try.
