Falling Off the Bed and Floating

I have never had this happen to me, so I am a little confused. I have a hard time sleeping at night and so I was in and out of sleep all night, I would say waking every 20 minutes or so. When I found myself falling off the bed and never landing on the floor instead I was levitating about 5 inches from the ground still laying on my side and unable to open my eyes or move my body, but realized I was floating. Finally, I was able to move and open my eyes, still feeling confused about what happen, I slipped back in bed, feeling like I had never gone to sleep, I am just laying in bed thinking about what had just happened. Did I dream that or did I really levitate? It felt so real and strange.

The next day I told my husband what had happened and he said I probably had my first out of body experience, but was confused and didn't understand so crawled back up in bed. I still am curious because we have a lot of strange things happen around our home like lights turning on and off by them self and other stuff. Anyone with some idea what my of happened to me I would love to hear it.

i can only think about 2 things:
#1 you have a psychic ability
#2 you have someone protecting you, like when you whould fall, he/she protected you
The lights turning on/off is a sign of him or her to get yourselve together? Or maybe just a sign to get your attention?

Hi everyone. First I want to say that I am in no way trying to diminish what you are experiencing. That being said have you ruled out any real physical condition that may be causing you to have these experiences? Like are you taking a medications or perhaps sleepwalking? There is also a very real phenomenon called sleep parylisis. It is when you awaken from a dream state but not quite all the way and you are unable to move. This is because when you are sleeping your brain releases chemicals to prevent you from "acting out" your dreams. If your body didn't do this we would all spend our nights running around or trying to fly, doing dishes, etc. In our sleep. Sometimes when you are not quite awake your brain is still sending these "dont move" signals so it feels as if you are parylized.

If you have discounted all these things then I would say it WAS some type of OBE. I have experienced sleep paryliis in my life and it is rather startling, but only once did I awaken to being a few inches out of my body and I actually felt myself lower back in (I was only about 12) so I do know what the difference feels like. Hope this might help you to understand your experience a little:)

jhyde9... I'll put my 2 cents in and also say it was an O.B.E. But how about some more info. On the other stuff ! 😁

About the lights flickering, it might be you. Those things happen to me when I'm nervous or angry. Power goes off. Things fall off the wall. I find it irritating. If I want to bend a spoon, have two good hands. Use to the van door locks clicked. Drove us nuts. Took it twice to the dealer, but nothing was wrong. The husband kept sanding the connections. But if the kiddies fought or fussed, click, click, click. They thought it was funny.

I just read a little on astral projection. I've had them, but always felt like a wind sucking me out and going fast and far. A few times have seen things then they happen the next day or a few days because they are on the news. But, just read about "bilocation," another form of mental projection. It talks about body doubles - a person appears to be in two places at one time. Some have seen their double. I've never had this happen.

im getting the chills from what alll you guys wrote... I just found out today... Or mabe this second that I have been getting OBE's

i had one last night... And it felt like I was stuck in a possition on my bed but I didn't feel any thing but I saw my room as it was but with disturbences of a dream like actions in front of me... Like something trying to mess with me and I knew that I was sleeping with my eyes open but I couldn't feel it... And one of them I had whent from my bed to the hallway to a closet in my hall wayand opened it... I saw a deranged lady with beautiful hair but she had her eyes closed and then opened them... I then quickly flew back it to bet and watched her fly from my bedroom door to the window and woke up in the same position as I was in when I whent to sleep and when my eyes where appering to be open because most of the time I saw my celing fan... I also relized thAT evry time I wake up and feel very strange or I had a bad dream... It seems to be around 2:30 -3:25 AM whitch I read is a strong time for spirits to mess with you... And I also noticed that when this happens I can talk durring these dreams more easly than when I'm dreaming normaly...

ive never had a peaceful OBE though... Is that bad...

i feel like I'm at risk of something bad because I meditate and try to open myself up into the world everyone tends to not pay attention to.

i just need some clarity

I don't know what happened but I'm guessing, it was an OBE. It's really the only thing I know of that fits your description

Iv had sorta similar situations to yours, but I'm my situation I would be walking in my house and I feel something grab me back, I would then wake up and think "what just happen"... And sometimes I fell off the bed and woke up in my bed, but that usally when I take naps.

I'm hoping someone out there can answer my question. I feel silly doing this but a bothersome "sleep" experience. Last few weeks I have been having these wierd events, when I go to bed at first I know I fall asleep. Yet shortly after I find myself as if awake (in my mind I know I'm in bed) in other places. Socializing in my favorite bars, or actively moving about. It feels like I'm in a conscious state of mind. Sometimes find myself wondering in my apartment while still in bed and have a run in with myself getting up to get a drink of water in the living room. That freaked me out. I know what is going on by my senses, I can hear, feel, touch, see in full color. Sometimes batteling the evil super natural. Sometimes it is a frightening fight that I find myself back in my apt in a panic sweating and find scratch marks on my arm and my back, that I know were not there before I went to sleep. Even my shirt had holes in the back I know for sure I did not have before. It felt so real. In the morning when I get ready for the day it feels like I never slept the whole night. Almost I was awake all night. This does not happen all the time. It happens at random where I'm at a point I can diffreniciate between dreams and feel as if I'm astroprojecting through parallel worlds or something. I wake up questioning I know that was not a dream. Or was it? I never have had this happened until recently. I'm starting to think I'm going crazy but I know some of this is really happening. Confused...

Melanie, astral projection is basically the same as out of body experience .

Your OBE sounds a lot like Astroprojection... You will be able to find out all kinds of information about it on the web and I believe even this site

Your experiences sound alike in many ways and very familiar to me. I have been having OBE's all my life due to a NDExperience at the age of 4 years old. For many years I was sometimes able to have them when I desired them and my method would be to think of myself at a close point in the bedroom, like right next to my bed. This focal point would bring my other body out and I progressed in my ability to be coherent of being out of body. The last out of body I experienced I became aware of a walk out, or better described a floating close to the ground, of bedroom and into living room. There is more to the story, but I think you have some information that may help you control sporatic, confusing experiences with obe's. I forgot to mention that I do this exercise before falling asleep, that is the thought of placing myself at a specific place in the room. I hope to get some feelings from others about this subject, as I want to expand my experience.

never heard that before I feel like my bed floats and moves round round and round. I see floating clouds and half moons in my bedrooms.

i had an OBE, where I was laying in bed, and all the sudden, I lift of my bed about 3 inches I think, and I can't move, my eyes are open but then I can sometimes, come off my bed, and then I walk in the hallway, and into my living room, but the living room was different. In my living room I see the replica soldiers attacking like in my F.E.A.R. Game for my ps3 they're shooting and I have to kill them just like in the game, it's strange. Also in the same floating ability, I stand up on the floor, and then I jump high and go through my ceiling, and a bird's eye view of my house, then I dive straight back to my body, and I'm fully awake finally.

hi guys, I believe in levitation and am trying to do it consciously and working hard for it! I'm 13 but I am very spiritually mature. I think if you guys want to actually levitate you should learn to dream control that way when you are dreaming and levitating you can "wake up" and eventually control it its just an idea please e-mail me jasonjarkovics [at] hotmail.com

I've had a similar experience. It was about two or three years ago when I was staying with my parents and I was sleeping on their couch. I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep, but when I finally did, I kept waking up and not being able to breathe, and feeling tingly but numb, time seemed to stand still, yet go really fast... If that makes any sence! I think maybe I was sleeping with my eyes open? Then I remember several times coming into consciousness and being about three feet off the couch, levitating face up, but I couldn't move, then I would fall back down onto the couch, it didn't hurt, but I just felt a shot of adrenaline as I fell. I remember there being a lot of black and a little bit of blue light in my sight. But the strangest thing is that I forgot all about it the next day, until about 5pm, when I remembered and I just burst into tears whilst explaining it to my mum. I think I cryed because I didn't understand it, everyone's scared of what they don't understand. Love and Light. Jasmine From New Zealand.

I have experienced the same thing in dreams. It almost felt like I was dreaming that I was asleep then I would walk on the walls and float above the bed and room. I would wake up constantly thinking I was awake but I was still dreaming. It felt like I was trapped in multiple dreams. It always turned to me floating around the house talking with people and looking out the window. It seemed to be me looking at my life from a spiritual being. Sometimes it would feel like an evil spirit was pressing up against me I would wake up to find myself in another dream.

i think that you were astral traveling because you couldn't move. I haven't astral traveled before and been aware of it so I do not know what it feels like but I do think that it is possible to levitate. Up until a couple years ago I would have dreams that were non realistic so that rules our astral traveling but when I would wake up I would fall onto my bed. I would fall about 1 or 2 feet. I couldn't open my eyes until I hit the bed so I'm not positive that I was levitating

That happened to me before! I was having trouble falling asleep and so I was in between my dream and awake states but I was still conscience of what was going on around me; I could hear sounds in my room like the air-conditioner. I couldn't move. I don't remember feeling myself floating exactly but I was having visions of myself roller skating and then falling and I crashed onto the floor but it was actually my bed because I remember hearing the sound of the bed-springs if I were to fall on the bed. I woke up with a start at first not being able to move; I was in paralysis. Then I tried to push my body up like I was doing a push-up and looked around. I tried to bang on my bed and make the same noise by it didn't work. The only thing was that I remembered similar things like this happening to me before when I was younger and they always occured when I had visions of me falling while skating. I remember this particular experience happening about a year ago. I told my mom the next morning and she said similar things have happened to her.

Both my mother and I also have premonitions. According to my mother the power to have premonitions has been passed down through the women of her side of the family for generations. I have them, she has them and she told me my grandmother, her mother, had them too.

I hope this gives you some solace to what happened to you. You're not alone! (lol!)

being not able to move is called Sleep Parallis(sorry I can not spell it). It happens either because your soul has left your body. Or something non human is possessing you. Since you were levitating and you have other things going on I would have to say it is a non human sprirt. Have a Psycic come in or ghost hunter.

Hope this helps by the way I am aisha I am with the arizona teen ghost hunters club. If you have any questions just email me aishaelizabeth [at] hotmail.com
