So I posted on this site back in 2010 about my experiences with an " Unknown Force ". Everything has been fine the past 2 years until recently, I been so afraid to sleep in the dark I feel as if something is waiting for me to fall asleep. One night back in August I was sound asleep and just woke up really quick as if I was trying to catch my breath and my room was completely dark. Some how I saw something standing at my door and I was wide awake, it turned around and took off across the hall towards my mothers room. I jumped out of bed to chase it and when I got close to it, it looked at me and smiled with an evil looking face and closed my moms door as it went inside. I ran through the door and saw it walk into a mirror my mother has behind her door. I scared the crap out of her because she was asleep and it was 4:30 am. She thought I was sleep walking our something but I was very much awake. Today I woke up shaking in my bed seeing black shadows standing by my door but I could not move to pick my arms up or turn. I have no idea what's going on but the last thing I saw was an image in my head of something that I call the " Goat Man " which has horns like a goat but the body of a man and the eyes are solid black. I'm afraid at times only when it is dark in the house. One thing I noticed is that these shadow people or evil things never enter my room. It's only on the outside I see these things. I do believe in God and have a necklace I wear witch is the Archangel Michael. Really hope this can shed some light to why I see these things.

She asked me what it was, and I couldn't explain it, but nor could I stop freaking out. She asked if it HURT and I said "No" that it was just "spinning". She eventually calmed me down somehow--how this all ended finally is a complete haze--and encouraged me to go back to sleep, which I did.
After that incident, I was terrified for days, if not weeks, afterward. I wanted to talk to my mother about it but it felt too scary/weird/embarrassing so I never mentioned it and just hoped it would never happen again. I did have the "head-spinning" feeling a lot in that house, but never the hallucinations again luckily.
Like you, I did not have the experience that I was "sleepwalking" just since people who sleepwalk seem to report a completely different type of subjective experience--i.e., they wake up and then realize that they've been sleeping/dreaming, whereas my experience was nothing like that; rather, I really did feel awake the whole time.
All that said, in the end and looking back after 20 years of thinking about it every once in a while, I DO feel like it was most likely some weird form of sleepwalking (something 'in-between' sleepwalking and being awake, perhaps) that did have to do with my brain and that while I still cannot explain or even give a name to what it was, I don't think it was paranormal. Around the very same time, I was experiencing a lot of stress with my parents fighting, and I had (unbeknownst to me back then) begun to develop OCD. I had started touching banisters a certain way, being afraid of things like "what if I blurt out some obscenity right now?" whenever I was with an adult and we were sitting in silence, and things of that nature. I also became very afraid around that same time of things like sleeping with my legs or arms or anything crossed, or not saying my prayers in a certain 'perfect' way. For a while I feared mirrors, demons, and even the possibility that I might be Satan (all of which is gone now).
While a slight, slight part of me still doesn't fully dismiss the notion that maybe it wasn't that house we were living in--I always felt like there was always something very odd about the attic where I slept, just as I experienced it back then--I ultimately lean heavily toward the conclusion that it was just psychological and one of the ways that my inexperienced and confused kid mind knew to handle the stress that I was being put through at the time. The brain is such an insanely complex thing--capable of so much more than a lot of people realize.
Well, that's just my story, and my two cents. Best regards.

It is a good time for them to show up because then you're questioning your own sanity as well (asking yourself whether or not you actually saw it), and one of the real goals of the evil in this world is to create doubt and make people question reality.
