Shadow Dance

The following story happened to me while entering a trance state through meditation.

I've been reading about Shamans and their ways and something that itched my curiosity was the contact with the animal spirits. Now, let's go back in time a lil' bit.

I consider myself a Witch. A few years back I started exploring the magickal paths as a Wiccan. And in one of the meetings the topic was Animal Spirit Guides. I was given a way to influence my animal guide to reveal itself to me in dreams. I would say a very successful one too, the same night I tried to make contact with my Animal Guide I started having dreams about the same animal over and over for a few nights. This animal was the Wolf.

Now, after the years of this learning process (life), and no longer a Wiccan. I decided to try to enter an altered state of consciousness through rhythmic drumming to contact my Animal Guide. Let me say that this was unexpected to me that through drumming you could achieve such a state (since a lot of people talk about it through hallucinogenic plants or substances). As I got deeper and deeper into this state I started seeing myself sitting inside of the flames in the middle of what looked like a drumming circle. There was all kinds of shadow figures dancing around me when out of nowhere this giant serpent shows up in front of me staring me down as if it was looking deep into my heart and thoughts. Suddenly the serpent struck each side of my face without biting me and jumped in the air and entered my body through my head. As soon as this happened I started to return to normal conscious state.

I've been trying to put some sense to this vision but to this day I don't know what to make of it.

You said that you are interested in "santeria", shamans, spirit guides and kundalini. Well, this site has limited space, so you can visit my PROPHILE, for some mind blowing best selling books, autobiographies, of people who practiced DEEPLY into these things for decades, they were masters and leaders in their field...they've "been there, done that",so you can hear it straight from the horse's mouth, what you can expect from practicing these things! Good luck!

I agree with IslVoter, the snake makes me think of kundalini. I've read that at some point before (or after birth), the kundalini energy enters your body from the top of the head, crawls down, and curls up in the sacral area. Kundalini yoga and other such practices try to wake up the "snake" so that it goes back up and reconnects you to the universal energy. A similar concept is going down and up the Tree of Life.

Also, the imagery of a snake inevitably reminds me of Liber Cordis Cincti Serpente. Even understanding less than half of what it's saying (and not because I don't understand English), I still find fragments of wisdom and enlightenment in it.

As for those who think snakes are evil, think of the symbol for medicine. The symbol is a single snake twining around a staff and it's called the Rod of Asclepius (the Greek god of medicine). Not to be confused with the caduceus (two snakes + wings) which is the staff of Hermes/Mercury.

I am 16, I am a spiritual medium, and clairsentient. I have had my gifts sense I was 4. I am a Christian, who believes most but not all jewish texts. That being said, I don't think that a black snake or shadow figures means evil. My dead grandfather contacted me as a shadow figure and he was a preacher. I believe we have multiple spirit guides, you need to try to contact your wolf again, as well as the snake. Try different meditations and try to speak with them. Hope that helps, thanks for reading.

Deathwalker86 I have to say that your experience is very interesting! As a pagan who has been learning about Shamanic Practices, especially Animal Spirit Guides (mines a panther by the way 😊),I would like to say that maybe the serpent represents knowledge; so following this context it could be that you gained more knowledge, or maybe are about to. Anyways that's my thought on it, I hope this helps in a way.

The serpent makes me think immediately of kundalini, except it is usually experienced from sacral area up not top down. But the symbolism of the snake may have to do with the same idea.

I also feel there are those who develop "top down" so to speak--where the upper chakras are already open at birth. But often, lower ones, like throat chakra, get blocked when those with spiritual gifts especially, aren't heard. Anyway, the top-downs tend to have problems with blockage just like anyone. The kundalini process helps break some of the blockages with surges of energy. I think the top down is called Descent of Grace.

It may be something to consider and maybe research to see if it resonates.

Good luck.

I had a similiar experience like you. My healer was healing me one day and as I got into the state. I kept getting flashes of a green with a tint of yellow serpent type of thing. It had yellow and red cat like eyes and I also felt it within me. Till this day I don't know what it was 😕. Well at least your not alone.
If anyone has someone insight on what I experienced please let me know because I am still confused about it. Thank you

But the bible does not specify the color of the snake. Beisdes, the bible contains Jewish and Christian ideology. Not everything in life is solved by the christian bible. And to say the bible contains all the answers to all the questions would be a lil' ignorant don't you think?

Believe me, I would know if it was evil or "demonic" forces at work. But that was not the case. Something else, the color black has more meaning than just evil. The devil belongs in Christianity. I have been sensitive to energies and entities since I was 13 or 14 years old (I'm 26 now). I've done my research and have had my experiences with "evil" forces too.

We all have our own reality. Some share the same and some don't.

Sorry if I sound a lil' rude to you. But I've had years of working with these kind of things in my life. I do not share and/or agree with all the beliefs of the Christian Cosmology.

Sorry I am probably wrong. I am kind of new to this, even though it has been with me my whole life. That's why I need answers.

But if it was 1 black snake then yes it was the devil, if it was two, or one green/blue snake (s) then that is for healing.

(btw can someone please tell me what I should do, read my story)

I don't think its evil or the devil. In shamanic and witchcraft traditions the serpent represents wisdom and healing. Even in modern medicine the symbol used is a staff with two serpents on it. And the shadows not necessarily have to be demons, I believe shadows mean doubts or just unclear situations, which would make sense since there are some things going on that are yet to be resolved in my life. These figures in this visions didn't say anything at all and aren't asking me to do anything. But thank you both for the comments! I appreciate it!

Ok ok let me tell you
what they are...let's just say I know some stuff. Ok the shadows dancing. They are demons, the black serpent you saw. The devil. So he is trying to contact you in your trances. Please do not do what ever it says, they lie, even if they say "oh were angels" THERE NOT! Hope that helped you some.

Hmmm... I believe the serpent represents evil, but that is based on my spiritual beliefs and my research on the "reptile race ".

I say burn sage, light a white candle and meditate or pray to get it out or figure out what this vision means. Keep meditating and you'll get your answers. Be patient and opened to take in all the knowledge and wisdom. Let go of your fears.

Maybe someone else has answers for you. I'm just discovering I have psychic gifts / abilities, so I'm looking for answers myself.

Hope you find what you need ❤
