Going back to 1990 and 4 months pregnant with my 2nd child. I was sitting in the playgroup with other mothers while my 1st child Rachel was playing, when a lady came in and sat next to me. I thought to myself, this lady is pregnant! Just as she put her bag down on the floor the teacher asked her how it went with her scan? I was quite shocked to think I was right, she was not showing as she was only 12 weeks gone from what the scan had come up with. She showed me the scan picture and I showed her mine, as she handed it over to me I thought, it's a boy. "do you have a boy now?" I asked. "No it's a girl" pointing to where she was playing. She looked at me strange and said what made you say that? I shook my head with a reply, just a feeling I said. Another lady sat down at the side of me who knew the lady that showed me her scan picture. She asked me which was my child, I pointed over to my little girl playing on the hours. "That's my little girl playing with the sand" she said. I could see she was with child and about 6 months gone. "Are you having a girl" I asked her. "How do you know"? She asked with a shocked look on her face, then she pulled out her picture. She said she couldn't make it out on the scan but the nurse thinks it's a girl as well. I told her it is a girl I just know it is. She laughed at me and said," well if your right it will save on buying more clothes".
At that moment her friend who was 12 weeks pregnant sat at the side of her to show her scan picture. I left them to their little baby chat, when I heard the lady that was 12 weeks say, "She thinks it's a boy" then the other one laughed and said, "she thinks mine is a girl". I turned my back on them thinking they are laughing at me. A few months went by, when the lady that was 12 weeks but now is 5 months came over to me and said, " you were right, It's a boy I'm having,". "Congratulations, I knew I was right", I said with a smile on my face.
Not much conversation went on between us as I mostly mucked in helping out with drinks and biscuits for the children and parents. It was not long after the other lady had her baby, when she came in with the baby I asked," well was I right". "yes it's a girl" she said rolling her eyes to the back of her head. I was due for my baby at any time now and feeling very uncomfortable, It was only then did they ask me did I know what I was having? "Yes it's a boy" I said, Then I said the most unusual thing! The next one will be another girl. I laughed at myself, I thought at that split second, What did I say that for!.
The woman laughed at me. No surprises in your life then. "No not a lot Ha Ha Ha", Now rolling my eyes. I turned away thinking, Do I really want another one?
I had my boy Christopher Wilfred, 3 days overdue and would you believe me if I was to tell you I did have my third child and it was a girl? I got them all christened on July 4 1994.
I Hope you enjoyed reading my true story.
