We have lived in our home since it was built in 1984. Through the years, I found that just before dozing off I would hear voices of groups of people murmuring as if in a "clan." There was one very loud man's voice that would speak over the others as if he were the leader giving commands. Sometimes it was all very loud and annoying. Once I said out loud "shut up!" and the voices stopped.
Sometimes I would hear someone whisper my name as if they were right next to me. I thought this was coming from my subconscious and expected it was just a common occurrence. I never really told anyone - didn't think much of it. It seemed to be coming from a specific area next to my bed near my bed stand.
Then, I got a job in a different city 7 years ago and my husband and I moved to a rented house for two years in the new city, but we kept our house. During that time, my sister lived in my house. Upon visiting her after we had been gone a few months I asked her how she was doing being in the house. Did she sleep OK, etc.?
(Keep in mind I NEVER told her about the voices!)
She said, that, yes, she slept very well BUT (and remarked "Don't tell anyone because they will think I am crazy.") she was hearing voices in my bedroom before she fell asleep. I acted surprised at first and asked her for more details. (What did they sound like? Did they come from any specific area of the room, etc.?) She indicated they seemed to becoming from an area next to the bed (in the same spot I had heard them coming from). She said they sounded like people mumbling and then she would hear a man talking very loudly over the others as if giving them orders. And sometimes she would hear her name being called!
I told her I had the same experience and she said we shouldn't tell anyone because they would think we were both crazy.:)
Since that experience we have moved back into our house. I have a genetic based progressive hearing loss, so I am not certain whether the voices might still be there but I cannot now hear them. Also, I once read that if you tell spirits to leave in the name of Jesus they must depart. I did this when I moved back in so that I could sleep peacefully.
It is very interesting that I just happened to google "hearing voices before I fall asleep" recently and found similar testimonies on your website.
