It happened about 3 weeks ago. It was a normal day, I had woken up and had gotten ready to have my friend Ashley pick me up. Suddenly Ashley stopped responding to texts and calls, so I decided to take my dog for a walk to kill some time. I did so, it was very hot out that day, I was dying of heat, so it was going to be a short walk. I was going to go home, but when I was about 50 feet from my house, I stopped cold. I froze up. Then, clear as can be, I heard a voice. It was a man's voice, not any that I had heard before, but a normal man's voice. He told me that I can't go home yet, that my mother had to do this. I would ruin everything. He told me to walk one more time around the block, and then I could go home. I did this. If I hadn't heard this voice... I mean there's no way I would've done that. It had to have been 100 degrees outside. I even said to myself, 'you have got to be kidding me', as I started going the other way away from my house.
When I got back to my house, right before I went inside I heard my mother screaming from the open window in my brother's room. "Matt! Please wake up, matt please!" I came inside just as she ran down the hallway to call 911, I had to call for her. My brother had overdosed on something in his bed and would not wake up.
I found out what had happened later. At the time I would've come into the house originally, before that voice spoke to me, my mom was debating whether or not to break down the door. Matt had locked his bedroom door. My mom heard snoring from his room (which was actually him gasping for last breaths every 10 seconds or so) and was going to leave him to go shopping. She called my father, and she kept debating in her head. Finally she did bust down the door, and Matt would've been dead if she had waited 5 more minutes, but we saved him. You see, I know that if I would've come home during her debate, she has horrible ADHD. I would've come in and she would've had to come help me get the leash off the dog and make me something to eat and wash something off my shirt and she would've completely forgot about Matt.
And my friend Ashley had collapsed from not breathing at the same time, which explains her not calling back.
The voice is what saved my brother's life in the long run. I really would have ruined everything. The voice hasn't talked to me since. Could it have been... God? Could I have known something, is that some kind of power?
I just don't know what to make of it.
Though I'm extremely happy my brother is alive and healthy.
BLESSINGS,
