A few weeks ago something strange happened to me during sleep. I went to bed at 5:00 in the morning, as usual. While sleeping I was having a really bad nightmare -it was a about a family friend that died a few months ago and came to warn me for something- and I felt so afraid that I commanded myself to wake up.
While I was waking, I felt my body becoming numb very quickly and when I opened my eyes all I could see was vivid white light. I could not move or speak, as if some invisible power was holding me. The space in which I found myself was bathed in very bright light, it was like chaos. I was terrified and thought that I was dead. A few seconds later, I was back in my room. It was only 6:30 but I was feeling as if I had been sleeping for 8-10 hours.
I had "sleep paralysis" experiences in the past but never seen this blinding white light, plus this recent was very intense. It is common for me to feel my body becoming numb while sleeping, but most times I am able to control it and wake up. This last time it was so strong and fast that I could not resist becoming paralyzed. It was scary and the next days I had trouble sleeping as I was afraid it could happen again.
I also believe that it lasted a few minutes but it felt like hours.
Can you remember about your thoughts? Mine where about this boy that it was under a house from the earthquake that occured in Athens during that year. (by the way I'm Greek also).
