Pink Raincoat

I went to pick up a friend today from her apartment complex, I do this everyday and I have been there more than 40 times. Today, it was raining and I was going very slow through the gate due to the abundant amount of speed bumps in the complex, I looked straight ahead and saw a small child standing on the sidewalk in front of an apartment building with a pink raincoat on. The child was facing sideways and appeared to be looking at something or waiting for someone. I assumed she was waiting for parents. I'm not sure if it was a boy or a girl, I only assume girl because of the pink raincoat. As a matter of fact, I wondered why this child was standing outside by herself in the rain because she couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 based on her size. As I got closer she simply vanished. I stopped in front of the building and looked up the stairway to see if she ran off. She was no where to be seen. I was very startled because I was not expecting this to be the outcome. I was not seeing things, I know what I saw. It was daylight but raining, I was not tired, or anything else wrong with me to where I would be hallucinating. This child simply vanished in front of my eyes. I am one of those people that do believe in the paranormal, only when I have exhausted all means of logical reasoning and am unable to find no evidence of any logical explanation I naturally decided this was something paranormal. Now my question is, why?

I have only had this happen to me one other time in my life and it was almost 30 years ago after my grandfather passed away. I saw a man on the side of the road that looked like my grandfather when he was younger. When I got closer he waved and disappeared.

I could explain to myself why that may have happened after my grandfather passed away but I cannot explain why this child in a pink raincoat was standing in the rain for me to see today. One more experience I can add to my list.

I have seen things like this as well, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I bet you were shaken by this experience. I lived in a city where every year around May, there would be this girl hitchhiking her way home. She wears a white dress and walks in the rain. The driver picks her up, and she directs them to her mom house. After arrival, the driver looks in the backseat, and she vanishes. Most people find their jackets placed over her tombstone. Her mother says on news that her daughter, and boyfriend were killed in a car accident on prom night. She does this every year and just want you to take her home.

Grant1616 - I agree with Jubeele that the little girl might have appeared for a number of reasons.

Since childhood I have seen a number of apparations/ghosts/spirits, whatever you prefer to call them. What I have come to realise is that they don't always appear to you intentionally. The little girl might not have intended for you to see her but you were open to her presence at the time, so you did see her.

One event that particularly sticks in my mind is when I was about 13/14 years old. My grandmother was very ill at the time and passed away a few months later. She'd told my mother for a few weeks before this specific event that her mother was visiting her. My mother wasn't totally convinced. It so happened that I saw this elderly lady standing by my grandmother's bed and I could hear gran whispering. Of course I then asked her who the lady was and the instant this spirit realised that I could see her, she disappeared. Gran confirmed that it was her mother.

I have had a few similar experiences but that one had the biggest impact on me.

So I don't believe that they always want you to see them, it just happens that sometimes you do. If they want you to see them they'll try to attract your attention. At least that is how I've experienced these "sightings", for lack of a better word.

Hi Grant1616, if what you saw was indeed paranormal in nature, there are a few possibilities. It could be a residual haunt, in that the spirit of that little girl was re-enacting an habitual action from her past. Or perhaps you saw someone's doppelganger or an astral projection?

You could also look into the history of that complex or around the area. Was there any incident involving a little girl of that age?

As for your glimpse of your grandfather - who knows? But I do believe our loved ones sometimes drop by to check on us. Over the years, I've also had a number of visits from loved ones in lucid dreams.

Then again, perhaps you somehow stepped for an instant into the past and "saw" him in a blink of an eye. I know a few people who've claimed it has happened to them. Time may not be quite that linear for all we know.

Hi there, Grant1616.:)

I saw that no one commented on your story, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on this. From your story, it sounds like you have the ability to see spirits. I don't know much about spirits or mediumship, but I'd be terrified to see a spirit. I guess I'm a little afraid of the unknown. But maybe there's a reason why you saw that little girl wearing the pink raincoat. Maybe she had a message for you or something. I really don't know. I'm sorry I can't be of much help on this subject, but your story was very interesting to read.:) Thank you for sharing.:)

I hope you have a nice day/night and much love goes out to you.
