I occasionally experience very short (1 or 2 second) visions and I wondered if anyone knows the best way to sustain them. I have tried things like meditation and have experienced many interesting things but by far the strongest psychic phenomena I have experienced are the visions.
The majority of visions I have had all started the same way, I have been lying on my bed watching TV and feeling quite sleepy, as I slip into the theta state I very suddenly go into a full on dream like situation (as I understand it it is not possible to go straight into a dream and must be in a deep sleep). Every thing in the vision is quite clear and even though they are less than a couple of seconds long I usually can describe them quite clearly and a lot of the time can associate an emotion with them. The trouble with these is the quickness and when I come round it is not like waking from a dream but more like being yanked out and is quite disorientating as even though I am not quite asleep I seem to lose all contact with the outside world and I also usually get a strong gut wrenching feeling like being on a roller coaster.
Most of the time I have been able to fully identify the incident when it happens although some have been vague like driving on a motorway which I may not have recognized when it happened. A good example of one was that I was watching tv and suddenly I was in my car approaching a round about that I was very familiar with, going round the round about a silver car in the next lane suddenly swerved into my lane and I came out of the vision with a start. This was in the space of a few seconds yet I knew the round about and I knew the colour of the car and I quite clearly described it to people including the person who was in the car next to me when it happened and in fact I was describing it whilst approaching the round about right before it happened and even the person who does not believe in psychic phenomena admitted that he could not deny something weird had occurred.
If anyone knows how I can maintain these visions to be more than flashes I would very much appreciate the advice.
I also believe that most people experience this but not strongly enough to bring them round and they continue into full on sleep with only a very faint sub conscious memory of it and when they experience the vision for real they do not know why it is familiar, hence de ja vu.
